InfoLink Consulting has released its global residential energy storage system (ESS) shipment rankings by region for 1H26. Based on InfoLink's Global Residential Energy Storage Market and Shipment Database, the rankings compile and present manufacturers’ shipment performance across different regional markets.

According to InfoLink’s global residential energy storage database, global residential ESS shipments reached 39.07 GWh in 1H26, up 137.67% YoY. The top five residential ESS suppliers were Fox ESS, Sigenergy, Deye, Huawei, and GoodWe. Regional rankings are detailed below.

*Note: In this study, residential ESS shipments are measured primarily on a battery-pack basis. Shipments of both standalone battery packs and complete systems are included in the statistics.

European market recovers as rising players overtake established leaders

In 1H26, residential ESS shipments in Europe reached 15.25 GWh. The top five suppliers were Fox ESS, Sigenergy, Huawei, Deye, and BYD.

Huawei and BYD remain established leaders, maintaining leading positions in markets such as Germany and Italy. However, beyond the presence in established residential ESS markets, Fox ESS and Sigenergy have expanded extensively across emerging markets in Western, Northern, and Eastern Europe, gaining traction in multiple countries and ultimately overtaking the established players in aggregate shipments. Deye also entered Europe’s top five, benefiting from its strong foothold in Ukraine and other Eastern European markets.

Europe’s residential ESS market showed some signs of a YoY recovery, mainly driven by higher oil and gas prices amid geopolitical tensions, combined with supportive policies in countries such as the UK, Hungary, Poland, and the Netherlands, including residential ESS subsidies and the removal of PV net metering.

However, most subsidy programs have yet to be rolled out at scale, with applications expected to open gradually in Q3–Q4 this year. Europe’s residential ESS market is expected to continue to recover and see further growth in 2H26 and 2027.

Australia becomes the world’s largest residential ESS market amid a fierce three-way race

In 1H26, residential ESS shipments in Oceania reached 10.03 GWh. The top five suppliers were Sigenergy, Fox ESS, GoodWe, Sungrow, and AlphaESS.

Sigenergy, Fox ESS, and GoodWe have emerged as the three dominant players in Australia. On the one hand, their market shares have already pulled well ahead of established residential ESS leaders in the country, such as Sungrow, Tesla, and AlphaESS. On the other hand, competition among the three has intensified, with signs of price war becoming increasingly evident.

Following Australia’s subsidy reduction on May 1, 2026, capacity additions declined sharply from May through July. Front-loaded installation surge in H1 pulled forward most of 2026 demand, and Australian residential ESS market is expected to contract significantly in H2.

Asian residential ESS market centers on South and Southeast Asia, with suppliers focusing on cost-effective product lines

In 1H26, residential ESS shipments in Asia reached 6.27 GWh. The top five suppliers were Deye, Pylontech, Dyness, SolaX Power, and GoodWe.

The Asian markets span South Asia, Southeast Asia, as well as Japan and South Korea, with Pakistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines serving as key markets. These markets are generally characterized by demand for backup power due to power outages and/or relatively high residential electricity prices.

Deye holds a clear lead in market share, supported by its first-mover advantage and well-targeted product positioning. Pylontech, Dyness, SolaX Power, and GoodWe have also rolled out cost-effective product lines tailored to these markets, steadily gaining market share.

The Americas market centers on the U.S., with increased participation from Chinese suppliers

In 1H26, residential ESS shipments in the Americas reached 3.52 GWh. The top five suppliers were Tesla, Growatt, SolarEdge, FranklinWH, and Felicity.

The U.S., the key market in the Americas, is typically dominated by European and U.S. players such as Tesla, SolarEdge, and Enphase. In 1H26, Tesla maintained a commanding lead in market share, while select Chinese suppliers, including Growatt and FranklinWH, gained market share by securing key customers and enhancing localized branding.

The Latin American market remains relatively small. However, by deepening its presence in niche markets such as the Dominican Republic and Chile, Felicity also secured a place among the top five suppliers in the Americas.

The Middle East and Africa markets remains relatively small, but niche leaders have emerged

In 1H26, residential ESS shipments in the Middle East and Africa reached 3.82 GWh. The top five suppliers were Felicity, Deye, Dyness, Pylontech, and Sigenergy.

Felicity and Deye lead in the market share. Felicity has benefited from its sustained focus on off-grid and hybrid-grid markets in Africa, such as Kenya and Uganda, targeting highly price-sensitive niche segments.

Meanwhile, Deye has benefited from its presence in African markets such as South Africa and Nigeria. Shipments have also risen in Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, where prolonged instability and unreliable power supply are driving demand for residential ESS for backup power.

Looking ahead to 2H26, the residential ESS market may undergo a restructuring.

From a regional perspective, following Australia’s subsidy reduction and as supportive policies in Europe begin to take effect, the global residential ESS market is expected to shift focus back toward Europe. The markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America remain relatively small but offer significant growth potential due to low PV-plus-storage penetration. In the U.S., uncertainty surrounding Chinese suppliers’ market participation remains high due to geopolitical disruptions and the market’s relatively closed nature.

Competition in the residential ESS market continues to intensify. Although the competitive landscape in some markets appears to be stabilizing, formidable new challengers continue to emerge. The success of these rising players indicates that the ability to define products around market needs and to build channel networks with precision will form a key competitive advantage for residential ESS suppliers.
